Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award Contest - Due 1/21/2018

EAGLE SCOUT SERVICE PROJECT OF THE YEAR AWARD CONTEST

The Greater Los Angeles Area Council's Eagle Scout Association is seeking applications from the Council's Eagle Scout Class of 2017 for the Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award.

The Award
The National Eagle Scout Association established the Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award to recognize valuable service of an exceptional nature by an Eagle Scout to a religious institution, school, community or other entity.  The  award recognizes the Scout for his Eagle Scout service project, one of the requirements for earning the rank of Eagle Scout.
The Levels of Award
Each year, local councils select a council-level winner.  From the council winners, each region selects region-level winner.  The national winner is then selected from the four regional finalists and the award is presented at the BSA Annual Meeting.  The GLAAC winner is also recognized at an ESA Eagle Scout event and on the
National Eagle Scout Association website.
Who can earn this Award?
Eagle Scouts in the GLAAC Eagle Scout Class of 2017 based on their
Eagle Scout service projects.
How to Apply for This Award
An Eagle Scout, his parents, or any registered BSA volunteer (with the Eagle Scout's permission) may submit the Eagle Scout's service project for consideration by submitting  an nomination form to the GLAAC ESA Committee.
Click Here to download the form.
All nominations must be received by the GLAAC NESA Committee
on or before January 21, 2018

God and Family for Grades 4-5 Religious Emblem

PRAY Awards Brochure 1 000.jpg - 800 x 1035
PRAY Awards Brochure 1 001.jpg - 800 x 1035

Dear friends,

I am happy to announce a schedule of classes for the Religious Emblem programs in Scouting. You might know these as "God and Country" awards. Scouting organizations invite denominations and faith groups to create their own religious emblem award programs for children and youth who are a part of their faith communities. United Methodists and many other Protestant denominations, as well as non-denominational churches use the programs created by the Programs of Religious Activities with Youth (P.R.A.Y.) I like to offer the classes to kids in the church and in the community, whether they are in scouting organizations or not.

P.R.A.Y. has four age-level programs. The classes range from 4 to 7 weeks in length. The workbooks for the programs are available at praypub.org.

I have decided that I will just go through the program in order, meeting Monday nights at 6 PM
God & Me (Grades 1-3) November 27, December 4,11, and 18
God & Family (Grades 4-5) January 8, 15, 22, 29, February 5 and 12
God & Church (Grades 6-8) March 5, 12, 19, 26, April 9, 16, and 23
God & Life (Grades 9-12) May 7, 14, 21, 28

I have attached a brochure on the program and a flyer for the God & Me class. Please feel free to share this information!
